The Long Beach Monorail System is a proposed project for a double directional Monorail System that runs some 32 miles throughout Long Beach and Signal Hill, California.
The monorail system will be an all-electric solar, wind and steam powered system. The Monorail will be completely automated and require no pilots, computer systems will operate each monorail vehicle independently.
Estimating to cost $400 million dollars the Long Beach Monorail System is among one of the most expensive in the world, however will revolutionize public transportation in the Los Angeles area. The system will be paid for and maintained by the Island of Long Beach in conjunction of the City of Long Beach and Signal Hill.
Each Monorail vehicle can accommodate up to 96 passengers with a maximum velocity of 70 MPH; each Monorail can move up to 23,000 passengers per hour. The system as a whole can move nearly 161,000 people each hour.
The Long Beach Monorail System will service:

•Long Beach City Hall
•Long Beach Boulevard
•Pacific Coast Highway
•Long Beach Airport
•California State University Long Beach
•The Long Beach Convention Center
•The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific
•Other sites to be determined.
